Online marketplace Lazada is now offering the Taobao collection to consumers in Indonesia.
It will do the same for consumers in the Philippines and Thailand from 11 October and 1 November respectively.
Shoppers across these markets will have access to a range of Taobao's popular products - such as home, & living, beauty tools, travel, fashion and electronic accessories-that cater to the local tastes in the different countries. Some of the available products will be those that are "not easily available in traditional retail outlets, especially in non-metro areas," Lazada said in a press release.
Besides offering products at affordable prices, Lazada will also provide a flexible exchange policy on faulty/damaged/incorrect products. Shoppers can also choose to pay for their collection by cash, after purchasing the products and getting them delivered to their doorstep.
The move to penetrate the Indonesian, Thailand and the Philippines markets follows Taobao Collection's successful launch in Singapore and Malaysia earlier this year, which received positive responses by shoppers in both markets.
"There has been a very strong interest in Taobao Collection products from Singapore consumers since it was introduced six months ago. This is a true testament to the way the Lazada and Alibaba teams have come together to build the business in a fast and efficient way, combining consumer insights, technology know-how and local expertise," said Aimone Ripa di Meana, chief marketplace officer, Lazada Group.
